According to Beecroft, she was able to hide her pregnancy from friends and family members due to ongoing problems with her weight.  When investigators completed questioning her, Beecroft was transported to a nearby hospital for a medical checkup.  While she was there, Oakdale Police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension went outside and looked through the family's trashcans.

Investigators quickly found the baby's body, along with blood stained towels and a black-handled knife.  When confronted at the hospital, Beecroft said she had panicked when she saw the baby move one of its fingers, so she grabbed a knife, and stabbed her multiple times.  She said she had lied because she thought the trash had already been picked up.  Following her admission, Beecroft was arrested and transported to the Washington County juvenile detention center. It is not yet clear whether the baby's father knew of Beecroft's impending birth. 

As is becoming the norm with teens these days, Beecroft has an Internet profile on the social networking website MySpace.com. The profile has been set to private, but you can still view a Google cache of it here.  In the about me section, Beecroft talks about her life in general and her boyfriend, who she says she has been with for over a year.

"My name is Nikki, Im [sic] a senior at tartan high school, I work at Cub Foods," she writes.  "I like to spend time mostly with my boo otha [sic] wise my friends!  I have a boyfriend and I love him dearly and his name is Joshua Michael Ross (Josh) I have been with him for about 1 year and 4 months!  10*26*05 I will fu— up any bitch that trys [sic] messing with him!  He is mine and all mine noone [sic] else can have him!  I love dying my hair different colors because I get board easly [sic]!  I also love to get my nails done with kute [sic] designs because I don't like to look at the same thing for too long!  My favorite thing to do is go Shopping!  I can't wait till July because I will be 18 and I have a Godchild on the way!  If you want to know anymore I guess you will have to message me!"

Interestingly enough, she listed her mother as her hero because she "brought me into this world and if I didn't respect that she would take me right out of this world!"
