BOISE, Idaho (Crime Library) —  Last month, 21-year-old John Joseph Delling allegedly went on a 6500-mile killing spree that left at least two men dead and one critically injured.  Delling was arrested for his crimes last week, and now, authorities are trying to determine the motive behind the murders.

According to police, Delling's murderous spree began on March 20 in Tucson, Arizona, when he lured University of Arizona student Jacob J. Thompson, 23, out of his home and shot him three times in the face, chest and arm.  Jacob miraculously survived the shooting and later identified Delling, a high school classmate, as the shooter.  He told police he had no idea why Delling shot him.

"He knew the name and remembered that was a Timberline student, but doesn't recall any interaction specifically with John Delling. It's bizarre," Jacob's mother Sally told KOLD News yesterday.

Eleven days later, on March 31, Delling arrived in Moscow, Idaho.  He drove to the home of David Boss, 21, a University of Idaho student and shot him twice in the head at point blank range.

"I went to sleep about 12:10. A few minutes later, I heard a noise," Stas Glukhov, a neighbor, told KXLY.com Friday.  "I thought something fell in the kitchen...I went back to bed."
