Shortly after the shootings, Salt Lake City police searched Talovic's parents' house in the 1900 block of West 400th Street North and removed what Kiernan called "a bunch of stuff," although the FBI agent declined to provide any more details about what the officers seized.
Since early Tuesday, long before anyone could realistically have ascertained Talovic's motive for shooting nine strangers in a shopping mall, there have been a chorus of cries from public officials, family members, religious leaders, and the press that whatever the murderous teen's motives were, they had no connection to his Islamic faith.

Talovic's aunt, Ajka Omerovic, rejected any suggestion that her nephew's religious beliefs had anything to do with the murders. "We are Muslim, but we are not terrorists," she told reporters.
Thursday, Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson met with a couple dozen Bosnian Muslims and a pack of reporters at a Bosnian restaurant and assured everyone that there was no evidence that religious or political views prompted the attack.
Others are not so sure.
