Four hours later, the Pennsylvania State Police canceled the Amber Alert.  No official statement was made at the time, but the local media immediately interpreted the act as confirmation of Nyia's discovery.  Unfortunately, initial reports proved to be true, and at 9 p.m. the Allegheny County medical examiner's office confirmed the body was indeed that of Nyia Miangel Page.

No arrests have been made and the police have not commented on the possibility of foul play.  Formal statements are pending the results of an autopsy, which has been scheduled to take place sometime today.

According to Pittsburgh news station KDKA, Nyia's father was brought in to police headquarters yesterday evening for additional questioning and another polygraph test.  He has not been named as a suspect, and it is not yet clear why investigators have taken these actions.

The website CodeAmber.org describes Nyia as "African-American, 24 inches tall, approximately 30 pounds, with short, black hair and brown eyes.  She was last seen wearing a maroon sweater with blue and yellow stripes, a disposable diaper, and she was possibly wrapped in a light blue electric blanket."

During a press conference Saturday morning, Lt. Bob Downey with the Allegheny County Police Department said that Nyia's 6-year-old brother discovered that she was missing around 7:30 a.m. and alerted his parents.  After a futile search of their two-story home, Nyia's parents, who have not yet been identified, called the Braddock Police Department.
