LIVINGSTON, Mont. (Crime Library) — Six weeks and still no word. That's how long it's been since 17-year-old Heather Brianna Wilkins walked into the sub-freezing Montana winter and disappeared.
No one has seen or heard from her since.
Brianna's mother, Cheryl "Chera" Walsh, told Court TV's Crime Library that she thinks her daughter's disappearance began as a journey of spiritual self-discovery but may have ended in tragedy.
Walsh said she recently obtained copies of a series of emails between Brianna and her father, James Wilkins, whom she said is living somewhere in Hawaii. Although she declined to provide Crime Library with copies of the emails or give details as to their contents, Walsh did say, "There's some pretty disturbing information and some advice that he (her father) has given her that if she's taken it, she could really be in a horrible situation."
Walsh said that at least some of the advice from James Wilkins might have suggested to Brianna, whose photographs show a slender, attractive young woman with long blond hair, that she use her good looks to manipulate people.
Without disclosing the nature of the advice, Walsh characterized it as inappropriate for a beautiful and very vulnerable young woman, adding that it may have put Brianna "in harm's way."
"If something happens to her, it's going to come down pretty heavy upon him," Walsh told Crime Library.
Court records show that James Wilkins has an outstanding arrest warrant charging him with felony nonsupport (nonpayment of child support). A copy of the warrant obtained by Crime Library shows that it was issued in Livingston, Mont. on Sept. 19, 2005 and carries with it a $50,000 bond. The warrant also has on it the notation that the state of Montana will extradite Wilkins from anywhere in the United States.
