Ricky Gray, Ray Dandridge Charged with Capital Murder in New Years Massacre

RICHMOND, VA (Crime Library) — The two men accused of a conducting a bloody weeklong reign of terror that claimed the lives of seven people in Richmond, including those of musician Bryan Harvey, his wife and their two young children, have been indicted on charges of capital murder.

The indictment, unsealed Wednesday by a multi-jurisdictional grand jury charges Ricky Gray with murder in the deaths of Harvey, 49, formerly the front man for the ban House of Freaks, his wife Kathryn Harvey, and their two children, Stella, 9, and Ruby, 4. Authorities have alleged that Gray, along with Ray Dandridge and accompanied by forced their way into the Harvey's home on New Year's Day. As one of their later victims, Ashley Baskerville waited outside, authorities allege, Gray beat the Harvey family slit their throats, and then torched their home to cover the crime.

A few days later, the indictment alleges, Dandridge took the lead in the slayings of the 21-year-old Baskerville, her mother, Mary Baskerville Tucker, 47 and her stepfather, 57-year-old Percyell Tucker.

The pair, who were arrested after authorities acting on a tip tracked Tucker's stolen car to the Philadelphia home of one of Gray and Dandridge's relatives are also considered suspects in a series of other attacks, including the November slaying of Gray's wife outside of Pittsburgh.

If convicted, the two men could face the death penalty.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Richmond Police Chief Rodney D. Moore, who has faced stiff criticism as the city has grappled with one of the highest violent crime rates in the nation praised both his department and the grand jury for its work. "I've said it before and I'm saying it again," the chief said, "if you come to Richmond and commit violent acts against our citizens, we will find you, arrest you and prosecute you."
