WESTMORELAND, Penn. (Crime Library) —  Authorities are still trying to determine what happened to a Derry Township teenager who has been missing for nearly a month.  From the start of the investigation, the Latrobe Police Department suspected she might have ran way, but, with each passing day, they are becoming more concerned over the circumstances of her mysterious disappearance.

Arley Earhart, 16, was last seen on January 5th.  According to her mother, Renee McCleary, Arley and her boyfriend had skipped school that day, and, around 3:00 that afternoon, her boyfriend dropped her off across the street from her high school at the BP Pit Quik Stop on Route 982.

"She was dropped off at the gas station by her boyfriend and another friend," her mother said in a telephone interview with Crime Library yesterday evening.  "My mother was to pick her up at 3:17, and she wasn't there.   We haven't seen or heard anything from her since."

Arley was upset with her mother the day she disappeared because she would not let her attend a farm show with her boyfriend. 

"She was talking about running away," Renee said.  "But when < redacted> dropped her off, she seemed fine and in a good mood.  He (the boyfriend) hasn't heard anything from her since.  We have seen her phone records for the day she disappeared, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.  I don't know.  I just hope she's not in any danger.  Her cell phone was shut off immediately and hasn't been turned on since."

Ms. McCleary said she does not believe her daughter ran away.  She said that Arley has never done anything like that before and that it was not like her to abandon her dearly loved pets, which include two horses, two dogs, rabbits, and a pregnant guinea pig.  She also said that her daughter had recently started working at a local sub shop, and not picked up her first check.  To Ms. McCleary's knowledge, her daughter did not have any money with her when she disappeared.
