JANESVILLE, Wis. (Crime Library) — Wednesday evening, Rock County Sheriff Bob Spoden held a press conference and announced that James C. Koepp, 47, had been arrested for the murders of Danyetta Lentz, 38, and her two children Nicole, 17, and Scott, 14.

According to Spoden, the sheriff's department and the Janesville Police Department began pursuingKoepp in Janesville on Tuesday night for suspicion of DWI. "The vehicle and its operator were weaving and basically looked as if he were intoxicated," Spoden said . After pursuing Koepp for over 30 minutes at speeds that sometimes reached 80 miles per hour, the authorities used road spikes to bring his vehicle to a stop.
Spoden would not comment on what evidence they have linking Koepp to the crimes and would only say that Koepp, who lived in the same Janesville mobile home park as the Lentzes, was considered a suspect before the chase.

Koepp was arrested on charges of DWI, eluding a police officer, and reckless driving. Spoden saidKoepp had also been arrested on charges related to the triple homicide, but he did not go into detail. Spoden also avoided mentioning the cause of death in the homicides and would only say the victims died of "complex homicidal violence," which means their deaths could have multiple causes.
