James Card is an American freelance writer living in South Korea. He hails from Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice in 1995. He interned with the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the I.R.S. Criminal Investigation Division.
He arrived in South Korea in 1996 and worked as a language teacher for the Korean military, and Daewoo and Posco, two large Korean conglomerates. During his sojourn in Korea, James has traveled throughout the Asia-Pacific region and explored New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, and Japan.
His work has appeared in Asia Times, ESPN Outdoors, the Wisconsin State Journal, Environment News Service, Outdoor Library, Yale Angler's Journal, the Korea Herald and the Joong Ang Daily. Currently he is writing the first edition country guide to South Korea for Bradt Travel Guides.
